"Wicked" times in Utah

We left for Utah Thursday morning to stay at my sister's, attend my nephew's baptism, and see Wicked with my family. It was a busy trip! Friday morning JD had his first Krispie Kreme donut. He loved it of course.

Also on Friday we went to the park with my sister's 4 kids and JD. It was a cute little caravan. JD and Charlotte relaxed in the wagon. JD loved the swings and went down the slide a few times. Charlotte had a little too much fun and fell asleep in the swing.

JD with his cousin Sam in their matching Christmas jammies.

For Christmas last year my dad bought tickets to Wicked in SLC for the kids and spouses. We were in the nosebleeds, but it was still an awesome show!!! Kyle's sister Jessica watched JD and my brother's kids for us so we could go. Thanks Jessica!!

Afterwards we ate at Bucca di Beppo, a really cool authentic Italian restaurant. We had the "Pope Room". It was all decked out in Pope memorablia and had a large lazy susan in the middle of the table with the Pope on it.

Us at the show.
I don't know if we've been changed for the better, but we have been changed for good.

Other happenings this week: I got called to be the Relief Society chorister and JD is almost cutting another tooth.

Chairs & Toothbrushing

Another busy week in the Roman home! The jerky that I mentioned previously turned out wonderfully! The downside is that I can't keep Kyle from eating it! Everytime I see him he is snacking on it. I'm thinking about hiding it and giving him a "jerky allowance" each day. :) Kyle was complaining about how stained our dining chairs were, so I pulled out the fabric I had gotten over a year ago and he went to town. He did a great job on them! It's great to find projects that don't take money! I finally remembered to get a toothbrush for JD so we decided to try it out. He loved it! We did get some bad news this week, the Bears traded quarterbacks with the Broncos. I'm especially mad since I got Kyle an Orton jersey for Christmas. JD is getting into everything! When he's at grandma's she has to put all of the plants on the counter and block the DVD's since his favorite activity is to unload bookcases. It was conference weekend and we actually saw all the sessions and Kyle went to the Priesthood session with my dad. Inbetween Sunday sessions we went over to my parents' for waffles. JD even had one too! I also included a pic I just took of JD busy unloading the shelves under the computer desk.

Dixie's Diner - March 21, 2009

To keep JD busy while we ate we gave him an onion ring. After ripping all the breading off, he tried to break the ring apart (which isn't easy with a slippery onion). Finally he broke it and was very proud of himself.
They give the kids these cute little hats and cars. Kyle had a lot of fun putting JD's car together and the sticker decals on.

Bread, jerky, & blessings

These last 2 weeks have been busy and full of blessings. With Kyle being laid off money has been a little tighter. Everytime it seemed that money was going to come up short, an opportunity presented itself. I got a call on a Thursday and was asked to take in a handicapped man for a week. Kyle and I have done this many times before, but I didn't realize we were on a sub list! Everything went smoothly while we had him. He was a very nice man with an interesting life. I've also had many opportunities to do extra babysitting. It's things like these that remind us of how much our Heavenly Father cares for us. I learned how to bake bread last week (no machine, by hand from scratch). There's been some trial and error, but I have made cinnamon swirl, white (plain & tye-dye), and white/wheat marbled. I'm also learning how to make jerky from a friend. I've got 4 1/2 lbs of jerky curing in my fridge right now. On Saturday my parents watched JD so we could go on a date. We went to the Titanic exhibit at the museum and to Hot Diggity Dog. It looks live a dive, but they have the best food! Hand-dipped corn dogs, fresh-cut curly fries, and Kyle had a chili dog wrap (hot dog, chili, cheese wrapped in a tortilla and fried - YUM). After that we went to a few second-hand stores downtown to look. In the furniture consignment store I found a beautiful china hutch for $100! The rest like it were going for $800-1000, but this person needed theirs sold. Kyle and I talked and we decided that if I could sell a few things on Craigslist to make room and get some extra money that I could get it. I posted the things and an hour later I had $100! JD has been growing like a weed and getting all over the place. He can get up the stairs in a matter of minutes now (still hasn't fallen down them... yet). He is cruising all over the furniture and pulling himself up to everything. Church has become an adventure since he is all over the place and it's during his nap time, but we still make it happen.

Faces - February 16, 2009

It was past JD's bedtime and all he wanted to do was crawl around on our bed. Kyle decided to scare him (usually he likes it), but he gave the saddest face and got all upset! He shortly went to bed.

Mmm... Donuts - February 16, 2009

I decided to see what JD would do with a powdered donut. He enjoyed it very much!

Thanksgiving 08 Arizona trip

My sister's kids with the silly suckers I brought them back.

Sweet little sleeper.

In his Thanksgiving shirt (they are bottles of baby food - baby's first Thanksgiving)

All clean

Chillaxin' in his highchair at Grandma Kona's. He spent a lot of time in there since he had just started eating cereal.

The first picture we took of him with our new camera we got for our early Christmas from Grandma & Grandpa Fitzgerald. Shortly after we got home he stopped taking his bink.

Swim Lessons - February 16, 2009

JD took swim lessons during February at the gym where I work. These are pictures from the life jacket day. He loves the water. We played some water games and he got really good at splashing.

Random times - Winter 08-09

This is a pic of my little snow angel. My whole family went up to the cabin March 4 for a weekend. This was when we found out that JD had a double ear infection. We ended up going home after a horrible sleepless night.

<-- JD enjoying a big chunk of Laffy Taffy that dad let him have. It's a great pic of his 2 new bottom teeth. 2-27-09

^ JD asleep in a shopping cart at the Twin Falls RiteAid. We were there printing pictures and ended up with a cute one! 2-5-09

<-- Our little snow family I made with my nephews after a big storm. After we made ours, quite a few popped up around. 1-21-08

This is the birthday cake that Kyle picked out for my birthday. It's the princess from Enchanted and it said "happy birthday princess Natalie" 12-20-08

Valentine's Day - February 13, 2009

These are pics of JD enjoying a Valentine's day cookie that I made at a girls' night with some friends.
